Contest Rules

  1. Entrants MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER.

  2. You must identify as Female. 

  3. Must submit two full body photographs of you depicting the 1940s, 1950s or 1960s eras. Bonus marks will be awarded if the contestant appears with a car, an engine, or a garage. Photos may not contain any nudity. Contestants must sign a release form allowing the use of the photographs for promotional purposes by Wheels on the Danforth Street Festival and Crossroads of the Danforth BIA.   4. The Contestant gives Glamour Girls and the Wheels on the Danforth staff permission to use promotional materials & photos of the Contestant from the event to promote the event and to photograph, video and record the contest in whole or in part for the purposes of promoting the event during or after the event.

  5. All contestants must follow the City of Toronto Code of Conduct. Participation is a privilege. Continued attendance can be revoked if a participant fails to respect other attendees or behaves in a way that endangers themselves, the event, or the broader community. The contest will be held within a family focused festival with children in the audience. Flashing, nudity, lingerie or swimsuits are not acceptable and will result in instant disqualification. Remember, you are not only representing yourself, but also the festival, participants, and the Crossroads of the Danforth BIA.

  6. No exposed belly buttons, no nudity, no flashing, no pasties, no lingerie outfits, no bikinis/thongs and no Halloween-style costumes. If you are unsure on what you want to wear fits within the rules, just ask or send us a photo we will be happy to advise you in advance.

  7. Glamour Girls & Garage Gals is a traditional pin up contest, meant to evoke and represent authentic vintage beauty. All outfits, behaviour must be representative of those eras.

  8. Contestants must wear a 1940’s, 1950’s or 1960’s Classic Glamour Pin-Up themed outfit. Dresses, circle and pencil skirts, wiggle dresses, blouses, capris, and high-wasted shorts. Military style outfits are welcomed as are tattoos. Contestants are to provide their own attire (bring an additional outfit in case you need to change.)

  9. If you arrive onsite and your outfit is not appropriate, judges will ask you to change it or you could be automatically disqualified. Every effort should be made to be classic in style and done in good vintage taste.

  10. Hairstyles, makeup, and shoes must follow the same Classic Glamour Styling. Contestants are to provide their own hair products, and make-up.

  11. The Contestant agrees not to bring into the venue any material, substance, equipment, or other object, which is likely to endanger any person or damage any property.

  12. No Smoking or Vaping during event. If you require time to smoke or vape, please arrange this with the contest staff. They will direct you to an appropriate off-site location.

  13. Absolutely No Alcohol. The Contestant agrees not to drink any alcohol prior to or during the event. Also, if they choose to drink after the contest, they must do so responsibly.

  14. Once an entry is accepted and announced, it is expected that entrants will promote their appearance at the show. Please tag “Wheels on the Danforth (#WOTD)” on your social media posts to maximize your exposure.

  15. Entries must be received no later than July 31st, 2024.

  16. This is a Full Day event so contestants must be prepared, ready, and committed to staying the full day. Hours: Sat, Aug.17th, 9am-4:00pm

  17. Contestants are expected to interact with the public throughout the event area as well as participate on stage during the contest.

  18. Once qualified contestants have been notified, full payment must be received prior to your position being activated. Failure to submit the registration fee ($25CAD) within 7 days will result in an automatic elimination and the next applicant will be invited to compete.

  19. By registering you agree to all contest rules and agree with all the terms of liability and event waiver detailed below.

Waiver:

By registering for this event, (signature to be obtained on event day), the Contestant and their representatives are acknowledging and agreeing to the following waiver:

WAIVER: I agree to abide by all the rules and regulations previously set forth as well as set forth by the City of Toronto Special Events and Parks and Recreation Departments. I assume all risks associated with this event and hold harmless The City of Toronto and all it’s divisions and representatives, and The Crossroads of the Danforth BIA, its officers, members, agents and volunteers.  I also waive and release all sponsors, their representatives and any individual or group associated with this event from all claims and liabilities of any kind arising from my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver.  I also, grant permission to all the foregoing to use any photographs, video, recordings, or my company name in conjunction with this event for any legitimate purpose including publicity. I agree to not hold liable the Crossroads BIA and the Event for any failure of or delay in the performance of the Event due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to, acts of God, storm, natural disaster, acts of terrorism, utility outages or interruptions, strikes or labour disputes, or any other force majeure event

 

All applicants will be notified by August 2nd, 2024.

Qualified Contestants will receive a detailed information package including details on how to submit their participation fee. The Wheels on the Danforth staff reserves the right to determine which contestants will be chosen to participate on the event days based on the criteria submitted. Filling out this application does not guarantee a spot in the contest. All decisions are final.

Accessibility & Special Needs:

Wheels on the Danforth is a fully accessible, family friendly event. Please let us know if you have any special needs and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Cancellation Policy:

In the event Crossroads of the Danforth BIA cancels the contest prior to the event date due to an Act of God, the Contestant will be entitled to reimbursement of their registration fee only. No further liability will be incurred, and no other monies will be forwarded.

In the event the Contestant can not participate in the contest or be present for the full two days, the contestant forfeits the registration fee and no further liability will be incurred, and no other monies will be forwarded.

Acts of God.

If an Act of God occurs due to unforeseen occurrences, which were unavoidable and would result in insurmountable delay, expense, or other material breach, the contract will be subject to the Cancellation Policy. An Act of God being an unforeseeable natural phenomenon not including rain or thunderstorms on performance date:

•          (i)   which involve no human agency

•          (ii)   which is not realistically possible to guard against

•          (iii)  which is due directly and exclusively to natural causes and

•          (iv) which could not have been prevented by any amount of foresight, plans, and care.

•          (recent example: Flooding of outdoor venues where permits were cancelled by City of Toronto and events could not happen)
